After a wave of unsolved car thefts, an insurance company calls in private investigator Pete Nobeck to solve the case. While the chief of police isn't thrilled about having an outsider come and show up his men, one of the officers is a former girlfriend of Nobeck's who's more than willing to help him out in any way she can.

These are from February 85, just after Tom and Alice tried to help Paul Selejko after he was burned as he was torching Andersons (Linda Anderson and Alex Marshall paid him, hoping to collect the insurance). Paul was allergic to morphine which Tom didn't know and he died, so his children brought a malpractice suit against Tom. Alice teams up with Howie to clear Tom's name
