Cleverly based on the writings and biography of Franz Kafka, Steven Soderbergh's film takes a fictional Kafka, insurance clerk, into a shadowy world of conspiracy and the resistance to it. Kafka's colleague is summoned to 'the Castle' after recieving an incriminating document. Kafka, a curious and depressed writer, follows the trail of the conspiracy and the government that nobody seems aware of, and it isn't so surprising. Barrowing from Terry Gilliam's Brazil, classic Noir, Orwell, and other horror, this is one of the most fascinating films ever made. A Highly recommended film(if you can manage to find it). It just so happens its not officially available in the U.S. on DVD, and what few Region 2 copies are available, they're scarce.
