What I think about all the immigrants.
I'm from a border community that is predominantly agriculture, and people are paid mere dollars for hours of work in very hot (120 degree) conditions. These people live on the edge of poverty, and are paid decently when you translate dollars to pesos, but they still live on the edge of society.
Finding dead bodies in the deserts, drowned in canals, and in containers/vehicles. The numbers were over a hundred total for each month, and in an area that is a hundred miles stretch of open land.
The Shield demonstrated how immigrants were treated like slave labor. My shock at people who look down on immigrants. Mexico is a corrupt country, people want a better life elsewhere.
An experience of me as an infant with my parents in Mexico, camping and the camp being searched by federales, many not in uniform.
New Mexico's solution of documenting immigrants, allowing them engage in legal activities, like getting car insurance.
American ideal of equality and access to freedom of idea and economics, and this language is being replaced with terms of fear. Living in America means not being afraid.
Incorporating people into America, not excluding them. Stopping people from basically committing illegal acts by making them legal, and using that as a way of figuring taxation.
