Re: Illegal Immigration - "They took err jeerbs!"

(him) The incredible level of racism, yes racism, is appalling here. You may try to refute your bigotry by predicting that I will call you a racist, but that doesn't make you any less of one.

(me) I'm far from it. Why don't your try debating the argument more and mudslinging me less. It's silly and childish. Racism refers to the discrimination of a person because of their race, and there is no part in what I've said that is racist. If I were racist, I would say something like "Them there wetback took all our American jobs! And don't pay taxes! And they make crime go up!" No... I didn't... In fact! The majority of jobs they take up, are jobs most Americans don't want. It doesn't bother me that they don't pay taxes because I don't think most Americans should be paying all the taxes that they do anyway. Besides, the fact that they get paid so little really makes up for it. And I know better than to say more illegal immigration causes more crime because statistics have shown that crime rates from 1994 to 2005 have declined as immigration has increased. Which makes since because being in the country illegally gives illegal aliens an extra incentive to keep a clean record and not commit crimes, in order to avoid deportation.

(him) To believe that you can degrade a group of hard working individuals out of the simple fact that they were not born here is not justifiable. Tell me something, why is your existence any more deserving of minimum wage benefits than a hard working illegal immigrant?

(me) No one is ever born more deserving than anyone else, but the simple fact is that they are not American citizens and we can't save the world from poverty and desolation, at least not all at once. It's called citizenship... and like I said, we have systems for these things. The problem isn't that they are coming over. The problem is that they are all coming over, and at an increasing rate. This country was not designed to take in such a large amount of people at once. And you forget! I'm a libertarian! I don't even fucking like minimum wage. the problem with immigration is exacerbated by the socialistic tendencies of the US. If the US had a more libertarian, constitutional, conservative economy, more people would benefit, both normal and illegal citizens, rather than just put stress on an already shaky economy. If the U.S had more of on conservative economy like it's supposed to be. I would even support letting them all in!

(him) What is wrong about peach pickers being paid minimum wage? I think you're forgetting the fact that once these farmers become naturalized citizens, they will suddenly begin contributing tax revenue to the government. They never would have been able to pay taxes as an illegal immigrant.

(me) The government keeps exactly $0.00 of your income tax at minimum wage. The only thing that illegals becoming naturalized and being paid minimum wage will contribute to the social security budget, which they are now going to benefit from since they are citizens. Not to mention that they already do pay a lot of the taxes we do from indirect taxes, which no one can get away from.(that is if you want to eat)
I also happen to know a lot of people from texas, and a big problum a lot of texans have is the fact that so many Illegals keep flooding emergency rooms for basic medications. Illegal immigration is the number one reason our healthcare system is on life support. Hospitals and emergency rooms across the United States are closing, but they are shutting in the areas with the highest rate of illegal immigration..if we removed illegal immigrants from the equation, the number of "uninsured Americans" the media keeps touting would plummet, because 76 percent of naturalized citizens and 81 percent of native-born Americans have employment-based health insurance.

(him) Additionally, these "hosa's" are human beings that deserve the same labour rights that any honest American would deserve. Your belief that we should exploit their economic misfortune for economic benefit is selfish and bigoted.

(me) I don't think we should exploit anyone, I just happen to know the Economic implications for opening the door to every single one of them. The fact that they get paid less than an actual citizen is unfortunate, but it is better than their previous situation... and with the exception of healthcare their existence in this country just so happens to benefit both sides. You either will have a decent moral state and good economic state, or a good moral state and a horrible economic state. Which they will have to live in to... I'm looking out for the already sinking boat, not the people already in the water.

(him) There are laws in place to protect the poorest members of our society from exploitation, and there is no reason that illegals should be exempt from those laws.

(me) If they were really getting exploited, they wouldn't be working. Not only is working illegal easier and worth more here, but safer too. And yes they should be! American laws pertain to American citizens just like French laws pertain to French citizens. Iranians don't get the same privileges that we do in America! Let me hear you bitch about them? The simple fact is WE CANT GIVE THE WORLD OUR FREEDOMS. We don't have the power, they don't have the will.
