Car Smashes Through House In West Winnipeg

For the second time in as many weeks, a vehicle has crashed into and directly through a house in Winnipeg.

Witnesses say the Honda Accord was being driven very fast on McBey Avenue in the Kirkfield area of west Winnipeg on Friday afternoon.

A car sits, covered with debris, in the backyard of the Winnipeg home it crashed through Friday afternoon. The car went through a stop sign and plowed into the front of a house on Woodlands Crescent, witnesses said. The car kept going right through the house and punched another massive hole in the back of the building as it exited into the rear yard.

The home's owner, Nigel Wilson, 25, was at work when a friend called him with the news.

"I thought maybe, you know, somebody hit the front of the house and maybe went into the living room or something, but nope, there's a car straight through my living room, kitchen, off the deck and it's sitting in my backyard," he said.

"It literally looked like a bomb had gone off. I mean, there's a huge hole in the front of the house. Everything is everywhere — my TV, my stereo, all my stuff, my kitchen table, all that is all out in the backyard stuck to the front of this guy's car.

"I'm surprised it didn't blow up, because he did take out the furnace. It's just not a good scene."

Wilson's dog was in a kennel in the house and narrowly missed being hit by the car. A man and two children who were reportedly in the vehicle were taken to hospital for treatment.
