Test details:
The Mitsubishi Montero Sport was introduced in the 1997 model year and structurally modified beginning with 2001 models to improve occupant protection in frontal offset crashes.
Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was reasonably well controlled. The driver's seat tipped toward the B-pillar and during rebound, the dummy's head hit the roof rail, B-pillar, and grab handle for the left rear door.
Injury measures — Measures taken from the head, neck, and chest indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. Forces on the right tibia and right foot indicate that injuries to the lower leg and foot would be possible. Head accelerations from the roof rail, B-pillar, and grab handle hits were negligible.
Additional features:
Antilock brakes (optional on 2-wheel-drive models and standard on 4-wheel-drive models)
