LVWSD Old Water Main Breaks and Washes Out RoadL

LVW&SD Broken Water Main and the Customers Get Boil Water Notices Six Hours Later

On the morning, before 9 a.m., of Saturday August 4, 2007 Lanark Village Water & Sewer District customers began to report low pressure and no water in their pipes. About 2:30 in the afternoon we called LVW&SD and found out a water main had broken and boil water notices would soon be put out.

Sadly this is not the first this has happened. This is not the field workers fault, as they have very little to work with and lack full time professional guidance. There is a possibility that the broken pipe is asbestos since this part of the village had the water pipes put in during World War II.

Audience Questions:

What are the contingency plans when LVW&SD can not provide customers safe drinking water and sewage is not removed from homes?

What can be done to ensure these field workers are not exposed to hazardous materials and environmental dangers such as water snakes?

In a situation like this, should there be a means of asking for help from a neighboring district with both the necessary equipment and knowledge to solve these types of problems?

How long can a sixty year old system be patched back together by nickel and dime solutions?

How many pumps and other tools could have been purchased using the money LVW&SD spent on Commissioner Rohrs s' health insurance and her husband's dental insurance?

C.H.A.N.G.E Fights For Camera Rights

Some tourists, amateur photographers, even would-be filmmakers hoping to make it big on YouTube could soon be forced to obtain a city ... all » permit and $1 million in liability insurance before taking pictures or filming on city property, including sidewalks.

New rules being considered by the Mayor's Office of Film, Theater and Broadcasting would require any group of two or more people who want to use a camera in a single public location for more than a half hour to get a city permit and insurance.

The same requirements would apply to any group of five or more people who plan to use a tripod in a public location for more than 10 minutes, including the time it takes to set up the equipment.

Julianne Cho, assistant commissioner of the film office, said the rules were not intended to apply to families on vacation or amateur filmmakers or photographers.

Nevertheless, the New York Civil Liberties Union says the proposed rules, as strictly interpreted, could have that effect. The group also warns that the rules set the stage for selective and perhaps discriminatory enforcement by police.

Miracle In Progress (Week 1&2 HBOT)

This is a music video highlighting moments prior to, as well as the first two weeks of my son's hyperbaric oxygen therapy used to help his cerebral palsy. Although numerous independent studies of HBOT have revealed tremendously positive results when used on patients suffering from CP, the FDA still has not approved the therapy for its use in patients with cerebral palsy. Without FDA approval, insurance wont cover a dime, forcing patients and their families to bear the burden of all costs. Its an absolute shame that this promising treatment cant be made available to everyone who desperately desires to receive it. This is my son's first two weeks of treatment with hopefully many more to come. We are seeing very positive results and will continue to document his progress and his improvements with further treatments. Any and all donations towards Luke's hyperbaric oxygen therapy will be gladly accepted at any Bank of America location. It's tax deductible and all a person has to do is mention the "Luke Buckley Medical Fund" and the teller will do the rest. Or you can mail payment to the following address:Bank Of America-Luke Buckley Medical Fund31565 State Route 20Oak Harbor, WA98277Thank you and God bless.Special thanks go to Jim Wagner and Doug Pritchard of the Hyperbaric Healing Center in Port Orchard, Washington. You guys are awesome!!!Stay tuned for more updates.
